Santiago Arroba wanted to be a lawyer ever since his fourth-grade teacher at St. Therese Catholic School in Wilson, North Carolina had his class participate in a mock prosecution of several killer whales that had attacked their trainers at SeaWorld. Santiago represented the orcas, defending them successfully to a jury of second and third-grade students. His appreciation for what a lawyer could do was cemented a few years later when he became a US Citizen after going through the naturalization process.

He has obtained millions of dollars for his clients, many of whom had been told by other firms that they did not have a case. With a belief that justice must always be pursued, he leverages the experience he’s gained from having handled thousands of cases of all sizes, treating his clients with frank honesty and respect, no matter how big or small their recovery may be.

Santiago’s Legal Career

Santiago has dedicated his entire legal career to representing the injured people of North Carolina. He has worked for some of the most successful injury firms in the State, learning how to handle a variety of cases. From vicious pit bull attacks to catastrophic work-place falls, and even wrongful death caused by preventable fires at a rental unit, his injury caseloads have always been varied and unique. He values educating his clients at every step of the litigation process, ensuring accessible understanding of the realities of fighting corporations and insurance companies who seek to deny his clients a fair result.

In his first job as an attorney at one of the biggest personal injury firms in the state, he grew the pre-litigation department from one lawyer and two paralegals to a team of three lawyers, eight paralegals, and six assistants, recovering an average of over $3.5 million in fees per year. After learning how to handle a wide array of cases, he joined a boutique firm and started to focus on litigation. This is where he met Justin Osborn and quickly learned Justin’s style of focused pressure through aggressive discovery and motions practice, resulting in increased settlements and a rising reputation as a highly capable litigator.

When Justin asked Santiago if he would want to join him at Osborn Injury Lawyers, it was a no-brainer. Since joining Osborn Injury Lawyers in May of 2025, Santiago has successfully litigated numerous cases, including dog attacks, grill explosions, and catastrophic trip and fall accidents for a combined $2,000,000—and counting!

In 2022, Santiago was part of the inaugural class of NCAJ’s NEXT program, which fosters future leaders in North Carolina’s legal industry. He has been honored by multiple organizations, including North Carolina Lawyers Weekly Rising Stars, National Trial Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 Civil Trial Lawyers award, and Best Lawyers’ Consumer Protection Guide Ones to Watch Award. He co-chaired the North Carolina Advocates for Justice’s Disbursements Seminar for four years, is a member of the Hispanic Legal Issues Division’s leadership team, and is on the Education Committee for the newly minted North Carolina Lawyers for the Rule of Law, a group of volunteer lawyers advancing adherence to the rule of law in a tumultuous political climate.

Before becoming a lawyer, Santiago was an insurance agent for one of the biggest insurance companies in the world—you’ve likely hummed their jingle to yourself! He now uses his deep insider knowledge of the insurance industry to maximize the value of his client’s cases, no matter what type of policy may be in effect.
